As Temperatures increase people tend to become more Violent

July 1988, the United States has been experiencing the warmest summer since temperatures began to record. Summer comes with a festive message to the people of the United States who spend a large part of the year in low temperatures. In that year, the roughness is created by overcoming the tenderness of nature with the warm wind. The rudder of summer is revealed. In the United States, electricity consumption is at an all-time high, tourism is booming in hot summers, the number of cars on the roads is increasing, and overcrowding is taking place on the highways.

At the same time, a different kind of record is set in the United States. The United States has a record number of violent incidents, with murders and rapes rising unexpectedly and robberies with weapons. The country recorded about 1.5 million crimes that year, 10 percent more than any other summer.

After this information came to hand, extensive research was started on the criminal tendency of people in summer. It has been observed that people sound more horns when they are stuck in traffic jams in summer than in winter, and incidents of misbehavior with the responsible traffic police are also more frequent in summer. At this time, people on the street help strangers less, increasing the incoherent behavior of people on the street.

In 1992, a team of researchers in the United Kingdom began researching the rise in crime. With years of criminal records in the UK and Wales, they prove that there is a correlation between rising temperatures and human crime. People are more likely to commit violent crimes in the summer than in the winter, and the number of crimes increases with the increase in temperature in a week during the winter.

A similar trend is seen in recent studies. A study of the London Metropolitan Police’s criminal record from 2010 to 2018, which was later reported in much mainstream British media. The study, after analyzing various man-made patterns of violence, claims that when temperatures in the UK rise above 20 degrees Celsius, 14% more violence occurs in humans than when temperatures are below 10 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the incidence of interference in the political rights of other citizens by one citizen increases by 16 percent.

Researchers at the University of Drexel in the US state of Philadelphia have been conducting research on human crime in different seasons. Their study also found the same equation, with almost all types of crime rates rising as temperatures rise. According to the study, people feel less comfortable in summer, their body consumes more energy, and their sleep time decreases. As a result of these processes, there is a tendency for people to get involved in conflicts quickly.

2018 was one of the warmest years in the history of the world and one of the warmest years in the history of the United Kingdom. In that year, the overall crime rate in the UK increased, with a record number of people appealing to the police for emergency assistance. The total number of calls to the emergency service number 999 increased by more than 40 percent.

Mexico also witnessed an increase in violent crime with rising temperatures. As the temperature rises, so does the number of murders, rapes, and robberies and the number of gang crimes. The same picture has been seen in South Africa. Research conducted on crime data there shows that homicides in South Africa increase by 1.5 percent as temperatures rise per degree Celsius. A similar situation is seen in Greece, a European country. The number of murders that occur in the country when the temperature is below 10 degrees Celsius, the number of murders increases by more than 30 percent when the temperature rises above 25 degrees Celsius.

The likelihood of violent movement increases with increasing temperature.

As the temperature rises, so does the movement of people on various political issues. An analysis of more than 7,000 political movements in the union over the past 36 years has shown that as temperatures rise, so does the tendency for people to become involved in the movement. The movement can be involved in the people’s political demands at any time. But at higher temperatures, the expression of dissatisfaction among the people increased, and they became involved in the movement. Movements that occur at relatively high temperatures are more likely to result in violent incidents, leading to higher levels of violence.

The Netherlands had a hot summer in August 2020. This month marks the warmest week since their country began recording temperatures. Riots erupted the week after the hottest week, with 27 people arrested in connection with the blaze.

A similar trend can be observed with the rise in temperature in the case of suicide. An analysis of nearly fourteen million suicides in twelve countries shows that as temperatures rise, so does the tendency for people to commit suicide, and so does the number of suicide attempts. When the temperature rises above 27 degrees Celsius, people are more likely to commit suicide, which greatly increases the incidence of suicide.

As the temperature rises, the number of fouls in a football match increases proportionately, increasing the number of players showing cards. The number of penalties also increases with this. At a relatively high temperature, journalists report more negatively on various issues, increasing the speed of political developments.

Why the trend of violence?

Almost all the studies conducted so far in different countries have shown a correlation between rising temperatures and the tendency of people to be violent and related to the tendency of people to commit crimes. As the temperature rises, the number of crimes increases in all countries, and so does the incidence of violence. Many biological and environmental factors influence the increase in this tendency to violence.

First, serotonin controls everything from the joys and sorrows to the ups and downs of a person’s life. These chemicals inside the body make us feel positive about something but also create negative feelings. There is a disproportionate relationship between temperature and serotonin secretion in the body. This disproportionate relationship drives people to uncertainty, to aggression on any issue. As a result, the tendency to violence increases with increasing temperature.

Second, testosterone is another important hormone that regulates physiological processes. This hormone reveals a person’s sexual identity and motivates them to behave accordingly. As the temperature rises, the rate of testosterone secretion in the human body increases, which negatively affects the physiological process, creating an aggressive attitude. As a result, the number of violent incidents increases during the summer, and domestic violence increases by up to 12 percent.

Thirdly, most of the festivals of the people’s social life are in hot weather. In most countries, people harvest agricultural crops at home in the summer, and the products produced throughout the year yield higher yields at this time. Economic activity centering on crops brings new impetus to people’s lives as well. As a result, most of the social festivals are usually held in the summer. In the winter-prone countries, people go for picnics at a higher rate in the summer, and people show more activity in various activities. There is more communication between people in these processes, creating conflicts of interest. Conflicts also arise from these conflicts.

Fourth, since the beginning of civilization, there have been differences of opinion among people, and civilization has progressed with the idea of these differences. People generally follow three paths to resolve conflicts of interest or ideology. Disagreements are usually resolved through dialogue, with conflicts of interest being resolved. In general, people in regions where people are more formally educated are more likely to choose to negotiate a solution to their differences. The reverse process is also seen in less educated societies. Again, temperate regions generally have higher human intellectual development than tropical regions. This is because, at higher temperatures, the human brain gives less output, affecting cognitive function. As a result, people get involved in conflicts.

Conflicting future

Earth’s temperature has been rising since the Industrial Revolution. Prior to 2020, the average temperature rise was 1.2 percent. At present huge investments are being made in the infrastructure sector, new industries are being created. Coal-fired power plants are being built to meet energy needs. Deforestation is going on indiscriminately. The lungs of the world are burning. As a result, scientists are predicting that climate change will accelerate and the Earth’s average temperature will rise rapidly. At the same time, the human-to-human conflict will increase, and human crime will increase.
