Cybersecurity

What is cybersecurity?

There is no substitute for cybersecurity awareness. There is no doubt that cybersecurity is an essential issue at present. Cybersecurity means some attention, some way we can protect our personal information, computers, our various digital devices – from hacking and multiple types of attacks. We now live in an environment surrounded by networks. Even our smart devices are connected to the internet world. Cybersecurity is the safe use of all cyber information technology-based devices, protecting information from theft, and protecting various kinds of malware. A mouse click can facilitate the arrival of powerful malware. With a clear idea of the cybersecurity threats, it will be easier to stay safe in this world.

In this age of increasing advances, dissemination, dissemination, and use of information technology, the Internet is the easiest way to deliver various information and services to people. For example, using the Internet, people can study at home, buy and sell goods, conduct business, talk on video calls, pay household utility bills (electricity, water, gas), and even purchase everyday raw materials.

Although various applications exist for accessing information and services through the Internet, the most commonly used is the web browser installed with almost every computer operating system. Although there are different web browsers, the most widely used and notable are Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, etc.

Web browsers are increasingly used to access Internet-based information and services, and it is essential to ensure web browsers’ security and safe use. Unfortunately, the web browsers that are routinely provided with the computer’s operating system, or the web browsers that we install, usually do not have security guarantees.

Suppose the Internet user does not have sufficient knowledge about cybersecurity and the web browser’s security. In that case, it is not ensured, various viruses, malware, or other malicious programs spread on the Internet can easily penetrate the user’s computer, and through it, cybercriminals can hack the user’s computer. I may be able to take complete control.

Here are some steps you can take to ensure the security of your web browser:

1) Every web browser has privacy settings. The user should review these settings carefully and configure them so that the browser’s safety is not compromised.

2) Always keep the web browser updated.

3) When downloading web browser plug-ins, add-ons and extensions, be careful not to install harmful plug-ins, add-ons, or extensions.

4) To keep the used plug-ins up to date and to uninstall unused and unnecessary plug-ins.

5) Always use active and updated anti-virus.

6) Use different web browser security plug-ins and use extensions to prevent unexpected popups—for example, the Adblock Plus extension.

7) Using a 64-bit web browser as the security of a 64-bit program is better than a 32-bit program.

Some precautions for web browser users are discussed to avoid cyber attacks.

1) Never save a password in a web browser because if the user’s computer is ever infected by a virus, malware, or another malicious program, then the cybercriminal can get that password at any time. In this case, the user can use any security software to save the password, such as KeePass Password Safe.

2) Delete the browsing history and cache of the web browser.

3) Keep the web browser’s autofill feature disabled so that no user information is stored in the web browser.

4) If the user uses the Internet through the web browser of a cybercafe or any other computer, then use the web browser’s incognito mode so that no user information is stored in the web browser.

Everyone’s caution and awareness can create a secure cyber environment.
