But is this anger just Retsukor?

Most people in our society are familiar with the term ‘bullying.’ People are being bullied in various ways in family, school, college, university, society or social media. However, among the various types of harassment, workplace bullying is a terrible problem, i.e. harassment in the workplace.

What is this workplace bullying?

This is called workplace bullying when an office worker is subjected to some form of humiliation by another co-worker or a few co-workers. Bullying is the act of belittling, belittling or demeaning a particular person or co-worker in various ways. E.g.-

  • The provocative speech aimed at an employee;
  • Insulting race or religion;
  • Mocking or ridiculing someone’s obstruction;
  • The tendency to criticize and underestimate the work;
  • Confuse a co-worker without proper work instructions or deadlines.

An employee also has to face many more types of harassment or bullying.

In addition to the above issues, office workers also suffer from various forms of psychological harassment by high-ranking colleagues. For example, passing on one’s achievement or success in the workplace in the name of others, imposing work pressure or responsibility on others, imposing extra work without proper training, working overtime or mentally harassing with work pressure on holidays.

Who are the victims of bullying and who is bullying?

It is a common sight to be bullied by a manager or a high-ranking colleague. Office workers are subjected to various forms of bullying such as withholding of promotions, non-granting of leave, transfer to other departments or dismissal. But this bullying does not come from bosses or high-ranking officials. A lower person can often cause this bullying.

  • Disrespectful treatment of managers;
  • Not completing the work or expressing inability to do;
  • Spreading rumors about managers or superiors.

Consequences of harassment in the workplace

The effects of harassment in the workplace can have a devastating effect on an office worker, both mentally and physically. This may result in-

  • Reluctance to work or office;
  • Anxiety causes various physical problems such as hypertension or diabetes;
  • Suffering from inferiority complex and depression.

Is the negative impact only on office workers?

No, just as the result of office bullying harms an employee, it also has an adverse effect on the office. As a result-

  • An employee’s work productivity may decrease, which is negative for the office.
  • Employees who are victims of bullying may take legal action, which will lead to legal complications, which is extremely negative for the office.
  • Indifference of the employee towards the workplace. This will lead to an inch to do if you face harassment

We have to play a strong role in this regard from our respective positions. In addition, every organization has a human resources department, which ensures the safety of the employees in all these matters, including the facilities of the office staff. If they face such problems, they should be informed first. Some organizations have anti-harassment policies. However, whether the organization has such a policy or not, some methods must be adopted. E.g.-

1) Talk openly with bullies or harassers about this and ask them to refrain from such acts. However, appropriate action must be taken if bullying or harassment is in the final stages. If necessary, seek legal help.

2) In many cases, such allegations are found against high-ranking colleagues. In that case, the evidence (screenshot, video or eyewitness) will play an effective role.

3) In case of repeated victimization, the higher authorities should be informed. Everyone should be cooperative towards the victim of bullying.

A healthy and beautiful workplace multiplies our work creativity and builds respect for co-workers. Every office needs a zero-tolerance policy in this regard. We should also take care that no such indication is expressed in our words or deeds.
